The Americas Poetry Festival of New York 2015 is a multilingual poetry festival and writers’ conference. Coordinated by the poets/professors Carlos Aguasaco and Yrene Santos, this second edition will be dedicated to poet William Akcoo (aka William Beltrán 1973-2011).

With the goal of getting children prepared for school, all the Imperial Valley public libraries in California are teaming up to get children to read 1,000 books before kindergarten. Spanish and bilingual books are one of the major focuses of this initiative.
Three residents of St. Andrews Estates South retirement community collaborated to produce a children's book with copies in English and Spanish. "Timothy, the Bear with Blue Eyes" has a message for children to be proud of themselves, even if they are different. The Spanish language version is "Timoteo, el Oso de Ojos Azules." The book can be read by first-graders with help and alone by second-graders, the message says on the back cover.
