Spanish bookstores are now able to apply for a Quality Certification Seal, in order to promote reading habits in the country.

Between 200 and 250 bookstores comply with requirements to obtain this certification. Storeowners can turn in their applications starting on early December.

The Quality Certification Seal has been recently introduced during the 33rd edition of Spain’s International Book Fair as a way to improve quality standards and promote a wide variety of cultural offerings.

This initiative is a joined effort by Spain’s Education, Culture and Sports Ministry, and the Book Chambers Association to boost the economy of the bookstores and to stimulate changes that would benefit readers with better service and larger catalogs.
