The world-renowned translator into English of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Mario Vargas Llosa and Don Quixote, will read from her new translation of works by Sister Juana Inés de la Cruz today, September 23, in the Assembly Hall, Campus Center on the University at Albany's uptown campus.

Read Conmigo looks for latino authors of children’s book during Hispanic Heritage Month

A recent study published by the Children's Book Center warned of the significant lack of ethnic diversity in children's picture books. In an effort to change that, the national bilingual literacy campaign Read Conmigo, will launch the contest "Preserving our Culture through Bilingual Literacy" for aspiring Latino authors of children's books in the area of Southern California. The contest ends October 31st.

Cleburne ISD board of trustees approved the purchase from Houghton Mifflin for Spanish teacher edition materials, student workbooks and Spanish leveled readers. Both science and math are taught in English and Spanish to students in kindergarten through the fifth grade.

HACU to present awards at the Annual Conference in Denver

The recognition will take place during the 28th conference, October 4 -6.
