During two hours, five experts on Marías' work discussed eleven novels and dozens of essays and articles from the Spanish author. The event, organized by Cervantes Institute and Brown University, and entitled “A Celebration of Javier Marías’ Narrative”, had an audience of more than 200 people.

Cuban-born and long-time U.S. resident José Kozer, one of the most revered Latin American poets, received the recognition from Chilean president Sebastián Piñera. Established in 2004 for Neruda's centennial, the award honors a lifetime contribution to poetry. It has been received by Nicanor Parra, Juan Gelman, and Ernesto Cardenal, among others.

B&T and Bookmasters to join forces

The private equity firm Castle Harlan Partners IV, L.P., , owner of Baker & Taylor, just purchased Bookmasters. The commercial relationship with Bookmasters will enable B&T to offer many of the same publisher services as its competitor Ingram Content Group, Publishers Weekly reports.

Award winer librarian from Colorado donates prize to organizations

Ghada Elturk, outreach librarian at the Boulder (Colo.) Public Library, was honored at ALA Annual Conference as the 2013 recipient of the ALA Ethnic and Multicultural Information Exchange Round Table (EMIERT) Distinguished Librarian Award. She is donating her award to the American Indian Library Association, Asian/Pacific American Library Association, the Black Caucus of ALA, REFORMA – the National Association to Promote Library & Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking, as well as EMIERT, all organizations which she has served as a longstanding and active member.
