A recent study published by the Children's Book Center warned of the significant lack of ethnic diversity in children's picture books. In an effort to change that, the national bilingual literacy campaign Read Conmigo, will launch the contest "Preserving our Culture through Bilingual Literacy" for aspiring Latino authors of children's books in the area of Southern California.
