VAZQUEZ MONTALBAN, Manuel

A Spanish writer born in Barcelona on July 27, 1939.

Vásquez Montalbán studied philosophy and letters at that city’s Autonomous University.

He began devoting himself to poetry in 1967 and later compiled his writing through 1986 for the collection Memoria y deseo.

Some of Vázquez Montalban’s novels include Asesinato en el Comité Central, El balneario, Los pájaros de Bangkok, Quinteto de Buenos Aires and Milenio Carvalho.

Vásquez Montalbán has defined himself as “journalist, novelist, poet, essayist, anthologist, prologue writer, humorist, critic, gastronome, a Barcelona soccer fan and generally a prolific (person).”

He died on October 18, 2003.
