Luisa Castro Legazpi, Spanish poet and novelist, was born on January 6th 1966 in the northwestern town of Foz (Lugo, Spain).
A graduate in linguistics from the Complutense University of Madrid, Castro began her literary career at the age of 17 with the publication of her book of poetry Odisea definitiva: libro póstumo.
In 1986, she was awarded the inaugural Hiperion Poetry Prize for Los versos del eunuco.
Two of her novels – El secreto de la lejía and La segunda mujer – won the 2001 Azorín Prize and the 2006 Biblioteca Breve Prize, respectively.
Castro currently lives in Madrid, where she works as a newspaper columnist.
