A Spanish writer and journalist who was born in Zamora in 1852.
Alas and Benito Pérez Galdós are considered by many to be the two greatest Spanish novelists of the 19up>th century.
Some of Alas’ most notable works are La Regenta, Solos de Clarín, La literatura en 1881, Sermón perdido, Nueva campaña, Mezclilla, andSiglo pasado.
His journalistic writings include Preludios de Clarín, Obra olvidada, and Clarín político, tomos I y II. Alas, who also wrote short stories and novellas such as El Señor y lo demás son cuentos, Doña Berta, Cuervo y Superchería and Cuentos morales.
Alas Clarin, died in Oviedo in 1901.
