Synopsis

As the words idealize childhood, the pictures portray a sordid reality. Upon reaching adulthood, this is reversed and the alleged success is criticized. What is success? What is failure? This story shows that it’s not simply black and white.
¿En qué consiste el éxito? Cuando era pequeño, vivía en una mansión enorme, en el corazón de un bosque mágico... Era guapo, tenia muchos amigos y era rico e inteligente. ¿Una infancia ideal? Si, pero la gran mansión en realidad es un cuchitril en un barrio miserable; el bosque mágico, un bosque de chimeneas que vomitan hum o nauseabundo... y el niño en cuestión, no es mas que un ser desgraciado, solo, pobre y estúpido... Pero al crecer, las cosas cambiaron: los títulos, el dinero, el amor, la paternidad, el éxito social, los eventos sociales, el poder han transformado a nuestro héroe. Esta cínica fabula juega con la contradicción constante entre el texto y la imagen. El texto idealiza una infancia triste, mientras las imágenes muestran una realidad sórdida. Como fracase en la vida es un cuento moral que no da lecciones, pero si que plantea con fino humor la pregunta de cual es el verdadero valor de la vida.
