Synopsis
Jean-Yves Funès, hijo de una francesa y de un tanguero argentino, era un niño en el París de posguerra cuando decidió ser escritor, luego de leer el cuento de Borges sobre el insomne Funes. Mucho después, ya anciano, convertido en un especialista en literaturas iberoamericanas, Funès se dirige a un congreso en Lyon. El viaje es un tributo a su añorada esposa, una alumna que eligió su clase atraída por el apellido tan literario. Pero en este viaje irán saltando como liebres fantasmales los Funes de Cortázar, de Bioy Casares, de Roa Bastos, todos los Funes que deberían figurar en el libro proyectado con su esposa muerta. Y muchos otros otros Funes.
Jean-Yves Funés was a young boy in post-war Paris when he decided he wanted to be a writer, after reading one of Borges stories about the insomniac Funes. Funès becomes an expert in Latin American literature, and as an old man attends a conference in Lyon. The trip is a tribute to his much missed wife; a student drawn to him by his highly literary surname. During the trip he is visited by the ghosts of the Funèses of Cortázar, Bioy Casares and Roa Bastos, all the Funèses who should appear in the book he planned with his dead wife. And many more.
