Los Angeles, 1942. Norma Jeane Baker lives a lonesome childhood, and she takes refuge in cinema. Although an arranged marriage forces her to give up her dream of becoming a star, when a photographer tries to make her a famous model, Norma comes to life on camera and leaves all her insecurities behind. She soon realizes that her place is in the spotlight; that it is only under those shining lights that she can be truly happy. But, to achieve this she must first free herself from the prudish rules of the times and get rid of Norma Jeane, and hence become a unique woman whose name will shine on for generations to come: Marilyn Monroe.
