Spanish writer and poet Ángela Vallvey was born in San Lorenzo de Calatrava in 1964.
She studied Contemporary History before beginning her literary career as a young adult author. She also dabbled in poetry, winning the Jaén Prize for her poetry collection El tamaño del universo and the Seville Athenaeum Prize for Nacida en cautividad. She is also a regular contributor to media outlets such as RNE (National Spanish Radio), Cuatro, La Razón, and Elle.
Her most famous work to date is Los estados carenciales, which won the Nadal Prize in 2003 and earned her widespread critical and popular acclaim. She had already achieved some recognition and significant international acclaim with A la caza del último hombre salvaje. In 2008, she was a finalist for the Planeta Novel Prize with her work Muerte entre poetas.
