A Spanish author Matilde Asensi studied Journalism at the UAB (University of Alicante), after which she began an interesting career as a journalist for media outlets such as Cadena SER, EFE, and RNE.
Settling permanently in Alicante, where she collaborated with several local newspapers, Asensi opted to apply for an administrative position at SERVEF (National Institute of Statistics and Geography), a position she secured in 1991.
From that moment on, Asensi combined her daily work with writing her first novel, El salón de ámbar, which was published in 1999 and was a notable bestseller, as well as a boost to continue her literary career. Two years later, she published her best-known novel, El último Catón, a work that became an international success and has sold more than a million copies.
Asensi has become one of the best-selling Spanish authors of recent decades thanks to her novels that blend tension, intrigue, history, and action. Her latest trilogy, Martín Ojo de Plata, was another popular success and a social media phenomenon, demonstrating her expertise in historical fiction.
