Claudia Piñeiro

Argentine writer, television scriptwriter, playwright, and economist, Claudia Piñeiro graduated in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires, working as an accountant for several years while she continued writing.

Her first published novel was Un ladrón entre nosotros in 2004, the same year that also saw her first theatrical premiere: Cuánto vale una heladera. However, Piñeiro's first novel was El secreto de las rubias, which remained unpublished despite being among the ten finalists for the La Sonrisa Vertical Prize.

She has won several national and international awards for her literary, theatrical, and journalistic work. She is the author of the novels Las viudas de los jueves, which received the 2005 Clarín Novel Prize; Tuya, Elena sabe, the 2010 LiBeraturpreis Prize; Las grietas de Jara, the 2010 Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize; Betibú; Un comunista en calzoncillos; Una suerte pequeña and Las maldiciones.
