Laura Antillano

Venezuelan writer Laura Antillano was born in Caracas on August 8th, 1950.

Throughout her career, she has written essays, poetry, short stories, novels, and literary criticism. She has also been a radio and television scriptwriter and a cultural promoter.

At just 15 years old, she published her first stories on the Arts and Letters page of the newspaper Panorama. She later graduated in Literature, with a minor in Hispanic Literature, from the University of Zulia; she also earned a master's degree in Venezuelan Literature there.

After completing her studies, she began teaching at the University of Carabobo, where she continues to teach after her retirement. She is also a columnist for the newspapers Últimas Noticias and Notitarde. In the literary field, Antillano has received awards such as the National Literature Prize and the José Rafael Pocaterra Biennial for her work.
