A poet, novelist and translator of Romanian origin, Corina Oproae was born in Fagaras in 1973. She writes in both Spanish and Catalan and translates poetry from Romanian and English.
Oproae studied English and Hispanic Philology in Romania and, in 1998, moved to Catalonia, where she has lived ever since. In 2002 she became a Spanish citizen.
Her poems have been included in several anthologies in Spain and Latin America. Her published collections of poems include ‘Intermitencias’ (2018) and ‘Desde dónde amar’ (2021), among others. In 2024 she was awarded the Tusquets Novel Prize for ‘La casa limón,’ a work that portrays the childhood of a girl in Romania as it witnesses the destruction of the Ceausescu regime.
