Spanish writer, Marcos Giralt Torrente, son of the painter Juan Giralt and grandson of the writer Gonzalo Torrente Ballester, graduated from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with a degree in Philosophy.
He has been a resident writer in the Academia Española en Roma (Spanish Academy in Rome), in the Künstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf of the University of Aberdeen and from 2002 – 2003 in the Berlin Artist-in-Residence Program. He was published for the first time in 1995, and collaborates as literary critic with Babelia, the cultural supplement to the newspaper El País.
In 2011 he won the Premio Nacional de Narrativa for his book ‘Tiempo de vida.’ His other works worth mentioning include titles such as ‘El final del amor,’ and ‘Paris,’ which won him the Premio Herralde de Novela Award.
