Rosa Montero

Spanish journalist and writer Rosa Montero studied journalism and psychology.

Her passion for writing began at a very young age: a victim of tuberculosis, she could do little else but read and write her own stories. What began as a game soon became a way of life.

After university, she went on to work at the newspaper Diario Pueblo and collaborated with various magazines such as Garbo and Hermano Lobo. From there, she moved to the newspaper El País, where she has served as editor of El País Semanal since 1980. That same year, Rosa Montero received the National Journalism Award.

Her first novel was Crónica del desamor (1979), but her first major success came with Te trataré como a una reina (1983), which propelled her to the top of the bestseller lists.
