Antonio Mercero (Madrid, 1969), Agustín Martínez (Lorca, 1975), and Jorge Díaz (Alicante, 1962) are the three authors who write under the pseudonym Carmen Mola.
The first published book, La novia Gitana, was a huge bestseller in the crime fiction scene. It began the saga starring Detective Inspector Elena Blanco, who finds herself investigating the murder of a Gypsy family. To do so, she must uncover the secrets and mysteries of the confrontation between two Gypsy brides.
The saga continues with La Red púrpura. This time, it's an even more extreme thriller about the disappearance of a teenager linked to the trafficking of live videos of deaths. In 2020, she published the third part, La Nena.
Under this pseudonym, the authors won the 2021 Planeta Prize for their work La Bestia, a story somewhere between a historical novel and a thriller, set in Madrid in 1834 during the cholera epidemic.
