Álvaro Villarroel (Madrid, 1975) graduated in Psychology and earned a postgraduate degree in Psychopathology.
However, his professional career has taken a variety of paths, including music and writing. He works as an air traffic controller, a job he combines with his passion for writing.
On the literary front, Villarroel trained at the Ateneu Barcelonés Writing School and completed a Master's in Fiction from the Madrid School of Writers. His short stories have also appeared in magazines such as "La Rompedora" and on various blogs.
Villarroel debuted as a novelist with Un hombre echado a perder (2024), a tragicomedy that blends social criticism and humor while portraying the vulnerability of a man at his lowest point.
