A writer and philologist born in Zaragoza in 1979, Irene Vallejo Moreu studied Classical Philology, earning her doctorate at the universities of Zaragoza and Florence.
She is primarily known for her outreach work, particularly for her contributions to media outlets such as El Heraldo de Aragón and El País Semanal. She also gives lectures and courses on classical culture.
Vallejo Moreu debuted on the literary scene in 2011 with her novel La luz sepultada (Buried Light). Four years later, her second work, El silbido del arquero (The Archer's Whistle), was published.
The author has also published anthologies, essays, and children's books. Her most notable work, El infinito en un junco, an essay about the history of books, became a bestseller and won the Ojo Crítico Prize for Narrative in 2019, the Los Libreros Recomiendan Prize in the nonfiction category in 2020, and, in the same year, the National Essay Prize.
