The Spanish writer David Zaplana is originally from Cartagena, although he grew up in another town in Murcia, Aljorra.
He studied Telecommunications Engineering in Valencia and founded an audiovisual production company, Ala Deriva, in 2006 with Ana Ballabriga, his partner and with whom he writes his novels.
In 2007, they published their first book, Tras el sol de Cartagena, which was followed by other titles such as La paradoja del bibliotecario ciego and La profecía del desierto. They combine writing fiction books with scripts for short films and television series and have received several awards for their audiovisual work.
In addition to his books written in collaboration with Ballabriga, the Murcian writer is also known for his short stories and was the winner of the IV Erotic Short Story Contest of the Cartagena City Council.
