Mercedes Abad

Mercedes Abad was born in 1961 in Barcelona. She studied at the French Lycée and the Autonomous University, where she graduated in Information Sciences.

Her collection of short stories, 'Ligeros libertinajes sabáticos', won the La Sonrisa Vertical Prize and was a huge success. She has published the short story collections 'Felicidades conyugales', 'Soplando al Viento', and 'Amigos y fantasmas', winner of the NH Vargas Llosa Prize in 2004. In 2000, she published her first novel, 'Sangre'. In addition to her fiction collections, she is also the author of the essay 'Sólo dime donde lo hacemos', and of radio scripts and plays such as 'Pretèrit perfecte', 'Se non è vero', and 'Bunyols de Quaresma' She directed the stage version of Christopher Hampton's Dangerous Liaisons and collaborated on the dramaturgy for the show XXX, adapting 'La filosofía en el tocador' by the Marquis de Sade, produced by La Fura dels Baus.
