Javier Sierra

Javier Sierra, the explorer of mysteries who conquered literature. From Teruel to the top of the international bestseller lists.

Javier Sierra was born in Teruel in 1971. He is one of the most successful contemporary Spanish writers. His literary career was marked by the exploration of historical and scientific mysteries. He grew up in the city of Teruel, which would later influence his work. Sierra has recalled in the media his visits to the Teruel Public Library, where he devoured books that fueled his imagination.

From his childhood, Sierra also fondly remembers his language and literature teacher, Doña Emilia, who fostered his creativity by encouraging her students to write stories to surprise others. The first non-children's book he read was Veinte mil leguas de Viaje submarino by Jules Verne, a work that undoubtedly influenced his later interest in adventure and mystery.

Javier Sierra's Evolution as a Writer

Javier Sierra's precocity in the world of communications was remarkable. At the age of twelve, he was already hosting a weekly radio program for children in his hometown. His first articles and stories date from this period, although he didn't formally enter the print media until he was sixteen.

At nineteen, while studying journalism in Madrid, Sierra helped found the monthly magazine Año Cero. At twenty-four, he published his first book, marking the beginning of a prolific literary career.
