A Spanish author, María Oruña studied law, a field she worked in for almost ten years, but which she temporarily abandoned to dedicate herself to literature and, incidentally, to becoming a mother.
Over time, Oruña returned to her private practice of law while continuing to dedicate part of her time to writing.
Oruña has collaborated on several websites where she has published historical fiction.
In 2013, she decided to self-publish one of her stories. Two years later, she achieved success thanks to Puerto escondido (Hidden Port), a personal crime novel set in Cantabria and the first in a series of the same name. This was followed by Un lugar a donde ir (A Place to Go) and Donde Fuimos Invencible (Where We Were Invincible), which were also warmly received by the public and critics.
El bosque de los cuatro vientos (The Forest of the Four Winds), a historical mystery novel independent of her best-known series, transports the reader to the 19th century and takes them through an old monastery converted into a parador (inn).
