Nación criminal / Criminal nation
by Héctor Domínguez Ruvalcaba
El Zarco and Los Bandidos from Río Frío in the 19th century, narcocorridos and the western tortilla of the Almada brothers in the 20th, and most recently, the literature, arts and film from creators like Élmer Mendoza, Luis Estrada and Teresa Margolles have unveiled the social meaning and purpose of crime in Mexico.
In contrast to authors like Fuentes, Revueltas and Paz, for whom the violence and the horrible express a certain essence of Mexicanism, Héctor Domínguez Ruvalcaba proposes that crime should be interpreted as the government's incompetence and as form of social control. He reveals a Mexico where laws have been impossible to enforce since the country itself was invented and where crime represents both rebellion and social containment. A world where crime is imposed on representations of masculinity, broken bodies, anonymous and forgotten deaths, femicides and other violent crimes. A world that embodies the spirit of violence in narrative.

Crónicas del espacio ante la última frontera / Space Chronicles: Facing the Ultimating Frontier
by Neil deGrasse Tyson
NASA is at a critical point; after decades of world supremacy, it canceled its shuttle program by closing its access to space. Until 2020, no astronaut will be released outside the Earth's orbit from US soil, and its space program could soon be eclipsed by other countries.
With characteristic humor and provocative ideas, Neil deGrasse Tyson, the famous host of the Cosmos program, illuminates the past, present and future of space exploration and brilliantly reminds us why NASA matters more than ever.
These chronicles are a provocative and agile reading that represent the best thinking of the author and reflect on topics as diverse as the scientific literature and the pitfalls of space missions, providing a vision of the future necessary, clear and, above all, inspiring.

A flor de piel / Skin Deep
by Javier Moro
One woman. Two adversaries. Twenty-two children.

An adventure that changed the course of history.

On November 30, 1803 a corvette sets sail from the port of La Coruña amidst cheers and applause. The ship's passengers are twenty-two orphans charged with the mission of bringing the recently-discovered smallpox vaccination to the overseas territories. Among these territories is the crown jewel: New Spain, and its capital, Mexico. The children are accompanied by Zendal, who takes care of them. The heroes of this fantastic journey, led by doctor Francisco Xavier Balmis and his assistant Josep Salvany, will face storms and shipwrecks, the opposition of the clergy, corrupt officials and the greed of those seeking to profit at the expense of the most vulnerable.

The reason this adventure became the greatest humanitarian feat in history is not only the courage of the children entrusted with saving the lives of so many people, but also to the determination of Balmis and Salvany, fearless men who fought for the love of the only woman on board.

by Pablo Illanes
When famous Chilean author Baltazar Durán commits suicide in the luxury suite of a New York hotel, everyone is anxious for a little piece of his fame.

Baltazar's sister Susana, on the other hand, feels a combination of curiosity and shame, fearful of what the pages might reveal. But the only person who has access to the book is David, his widower, who will discover that the only love true of his dead husband was Emilio Ovalle, Susana's boyfriend from adolescence, and with whom Baltazar spent his last night alive.

In an intriguing story where fiction and reality intertwine and nothing is what is appears to be, Cannibal Lovers is a passionate portrait of Chile in the 1980s, of an awakening to adult life, sex, drugs and the discovery of a great passion: film.
