On one side, the megalomaniac ostentation, the golf courses, the elite colleges and the billionaires of Silicon Valley; on the other, waves of racist violence, an increase in the number of inmates, immigrants without documents, terrible working conditions, hurricanes and droughts. A country in which the middle class is about to become extinct, and where grotesque plutocrats have taken, or rather, bought, the reins of politics. A journey that takes us far from the route usually taken by the media and that reveals the dreadful consequences of the infamous global crisis which turned the American dream into a nightmare. However, if something characterizes Robinson's style is his sense of humor, optimism and irony, which are all necessary to write about such ludicrous events as the visit of tycoon Sheldon Adelson to Spain. This is the same style which lets us find little rays of hope hidden somewhere in the speeches of figures such as Bill de Blasio or Bernie Sanders.
