Synopsis

Involved in a trauma related to the attempts by Francos Spain to get close to the United States, Inspector Mascarell will truly gamble with his life. April, 1950. The police detain Miquel Mascarell. His name appears in the agenda of the son of a journalist friend, who was shot by the Regime. The young man is accused of the murder of a Spanish diplomat. Miquel finds himself obliged to investigate what happened in order to prove his own innocence, as well as the boys. The diplomat was just kicked out of the United States. Why? In the days in which Spain is trying every means possible of being recognized by the world, mainly by taking an interest in the United States, and when the "sale" of the Morón, Zaragoza, Torrejón de Ardoz, and Rota military bases is looming on the horizon, Miquel discovers that the Spanish embassy in Washington is a sieve for North American intelligence. Too much so for the Russian secret service to remain impassive: American bases in Spain could unbalance the European map. With his usual documentary intensity, the author shows the nuances of Spain in the second half of the 20th century.
