Anna Caballé wins the Jovellanos Essay Prize for 'El saber biográfico' (Biographical Knowledge)

The jury has emphasized that the work values the biographical genre and visits its most prominent masters.

The essay, 'El saber biográfico' (Biographical Knowledge), written by the professor and expert in biographical work, Anna Caballé, has won the XXVII Jovellanos International Essay Prize, endowed with 9,000 Euros, which is convened every year by Ediciones Nobel. The award-winning work combines theoretical and personal reflections on biography; the result of many years of dedication, with the desire to string together a story about the continuity of biographies within the Spanish culture, offering, for the first time, a theoretical-critical framework appropriate to a type of writing that was lacking it.

According to the jury, the work highlights, with erudition and literary excellence, the biographical genre as a school of history and life, taking a tour of the most prominent masters of all times and styles. Caballé's essay has prevailed among the 253 that were presented in this year's edition, a record number in participation in its more than 25 years of existance.
