The Spanish Association of Literary Critics has recognized the novelist for “Sur” and the poet for “Matria”

The novelist Antonio Soler (Malaga, 1956) and the poet Raquel Lanseros (Jerez de la Frontera, 1973) have been awarded the 2018 Critics’ Prizes, awarded annually for the best books of prose and poetry for their works, “Sur” (South) and “Matria” (Motherland), respectively. Soler has been at the forefront of critical acclaim since last year with his novel, published by Galaxia Gutenberg, which has already picked up several awards, the last one being the Francisco Umbral Award.

These awards, which carry no monetary prize, have been granted by the Spanish Association of Literary Critics since 1956, when Camilo Jose Cela won with “La Catira”. They are awarded to the best works in prose and poetry published in Spain the previous year, whether in Spanish, Galician, Basque or Catalan.
