The Patria (Fatherland) phenomenon continues: Winner of The Critics’ Prize and the highest-selling novel of the Sant Jordi Book Day.

“A new landmark for the Patria phenomenon. Ever since its publication in September last year, Fernando Aramburu’s novel has sold nearly 300,000 copies, it was chosen as the best book of 2016 by the critics at El Cultural, it won the Francisco Umbral Prize and it was announced that it would be adapted into a television series.

To this long list of achievements we can now add The Critic’s Prize, awarded by the Spanish Association of Literary Critics. The jury have described Patria as a “necessary” book, and “good literature” which has “managed to connect with people”. Furthermore, Patria has been the highest-selling Spanish fiction book during the Sant Jordi celebrations this weekend, according to the Guild of Booksellers of Catalonia, and in its digital format it is also the highest-selling book in Spain on the Amazon platform.”
