'Leemos (We Read): promotion of reading.

A project of the Lara and Telefónica foundations for the classrooms. To combat the lack of reading comprehension among the younger generation and motivate the reading passion in the classroom, the José Manuel Lara and Telefónica foundations have developed the Leemos digital project, focused on promoting reading in classrooms.

With him they have wanted to provide a new way of favoring the reading habit, aimed at both students and teachers and families. It will be done through a platform with free services and readings that qualify as "unique in Spain".

Leemos is aimed at students between the ages of ten and fourteen, considered a key moment for the loss of the reading habit, when the young enters the world of digital technology, social networks and mobile devices. For this reason, this campaign to promote reading is focused on reading in digital format, to better fit the habit of content consumption in that age group. The latest report from the Federation of Publishers Guilds of Spain notes that 35% of Spaniards never read books; the practice of reading in classrooms, which previously had a mandatory half hour a day, has been diluted in other activities; and the rate of school failure in our country remains one of the highest in Europe. In these circumstances, the leaders of Leemos consider that it is "a useful tool to combat this situation, with solutions focused on the students themselves, families and schools". The goal is that 100 thousand students join the adventure of reading.
