Óscar Sáenz de Santamaría is the new general director of Culture and Book Industries in Spain

Óscar Sáenz de Santamaría Gómez-Mampaso will be the new the new general director of Culture and Book Industries, after the designation of José Pascual Marco as the new general director of Coordination of Common Policy and General Affairs of the European Union.

Marco leaves the post that he had served at since July of 2015 in the hands of Sáenz de Santamaría, who will then be officially appointed to his new position next week, according to sources from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports. Born on April 6th, 1974, Sáenz de Santamaría holds a degree in Law by the Pontifical University of Comillas and belongs to the State Bar Association. He has served at the High Court of Justice in Madrid, where he presided over culture-related affairs such as proceedings for the Archives of Salamanca, intellectual property, assets of cultural interest, and the payment of the cultural 1% tithe.

In September of 2009 he became chief state counsel at the Ministry of Education, and since January of 2012 he has been in charge of all state legal affairs at Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.
