Anagrama Presents "No voy a pedirle a nadie que me crea" by Juan Pablo Villalobos

The Mexican writer won last year the award organized by Anagrama with this book "No voy a pedirle a nadie que me crea (I’m Not Asking Anyone to Believe Me).

January 19th, 2017

“As well as being caustic and delirious, with a thick streak of stylized humour (as strange as that may seem), the novels of Juan Pablo Villalobos (México, 1973) obey no rules, except for the logic of the absurd.

(…) Now, in No voy a pedirle a nadie que me crea (I’m Not Asking Anyone to Believe Me), the last winner of the Herralde Prize presents a Mexican with a writer’s name travelling to Barcelona to take a PhD. His thesis on ‘the limits of humour in 20th Century Latin American literature’ is one of the many parodies strewn throughout the novel. And a way of showing that the author is very aware of what he is doing.”
