The feminist poetry of Estela Puyuelo

The publishing house Los libros del gato negro publishes "Soledad no tiene gato".

The poet and ethnographer Estela Puyuelo (Huesca, 1976) astonishes once again with her recent collection of poems ‘Soledad no tiene gato’ (Los libros del gato negro), with a very interesting introduction by Irene Abad Buil and an excellent cover photograph by Esther Gómez.

Abad Buil emphasizes that Soledad no tiene gato (Soledad has no cat), but she is fulfilled because the sun illuminates her more and more strongly with age, sol-edad (a play on words in Spanish sol=sun edad=age.) “Soledad has no cat to purr around her skirts, to rub against her legs or to hiss at her when she steps on its tail. Soledad has herself, Soledad is strong, Soledad loves freedom. Soledad is a woman.”  Be sure you read it.

I believe the feminist poetry of Estela Puyuelo, who is also a writer and teacher of Spanish Language and Literature in Secondary Education is very necessary and true for our times.
