Miguel Hernández, historical bookseller of Antonio Machado, dies.

Last April 30 and after a battle with pancreatic cancer, Miguel Hernández died at the age of 72 in Madrid.

He worked as a bookseller for more than 30 years, which earned him a large number of followers and even before his customers greeted him, he already had a book in hand waiting to give it to them.

At number 17 Fernando VI Street, in the central Justicia neighborhood of Madrid, three white marble steps led to swinging doors and into the former headquarters of the Antonio Machado bookstore, now moved to the Plaza de las Salesas. Once through those doors one was faced with Miguel Hernández, leaning on a long table of novelties, holding a cigarette, and balancing it to avoid the ashes from falling.
