Spain's Ministry of Culture will celebrate Book Day 2024 with an extensive program of literary activities connected to the Cervantes Prize.

The Spanish Ministry of Culture, through the Directorate General of Books, Comics and Reading, has prepared a wide range of literary activities for the celebration of Book and Copyright Day, to be held from April 15 to 26, during the Cervantes Week.

The program of events will feature the poster designed by Luci Gutiérrez, winner of the National Illustration Award 2023. The work has been inspired by a phrase from Luis Mateo Diez, current Miguel de Cervantes Prize Winner for Literature in the Spanish Language, which is awarded annually by the Ministry of Culture. Quote from Luis Mateo Diez: "I live by telling and I tell by living, fiction is an essential part of our existence".

After the hanging of banners on the façade of the Ministry of Culture on Monday, April 15, the program of events will kick off that same evening with an event organized by the General Directorate at the Ateneo de Madrid. It will be an evening of homage to the latest Cervantes laureate, who will hold a discussion with Antonio Monegal, National Essay Prize 2023, and Aurora Luque, National Poetry Prize 2022, on the subject 'Repensar el Mundo (Rethinking the World'). The evening is organized in collaboration with the Trobades & Premis Mediterranis Albert Camus.

The event will be broadcast live on Youtube and can be followed at this link
