Four readers comment on García Márquez's posthumous novel

On March 6, 'En agosto nos vemos' will arrive in bookstores, though some privileged readers have already read it when it was still a manuscript.

The story of a woman who every August 16 visits her mother's grave on a Caribbean Island, will be presented to the public this March 6, the day of the 97th birthday of its creator, Gabriel García Márquez. The date is festive and commemorative all around: almost a month into the first decade since his death, we once again have - 20 years after “Memorias de mis putas tristes,” a new novel by the Nobel laureate on the shelves of the world, in the year when the premiere of the Netflix series adaptation of “Cien años de soledad” is also expected.

It is the latest act of magic by an author who continues to be read, commented on and, predictably, pirated in .pdf files that have circulated in WhatsApp chats with the unpublished work.
