Review of “Verano en rojo,” by Berna González Harbour

'Verano en rojo' is the first volume of the police series 'Comisaria Ruiz', written by award-winning Spanish journalist and author Berna González Harbour.

The work was first published in 2012 by RBA publishing house. Later, the plot of the protagonists was extended in Margen de error, “Las lágrimas de Claire Jones,” and “El sueño de la razón.” The last two were finalists for the Hammett Prize.

As for 'Verano en rojo', reviews from both scholars and readers are mixed. Some have enjoyed Berna Gonzalez Harbour's unusually fast-paced crime narrative, while others dispute what they see as a lack of depth on the part of the characters in this work. On the other hand, one of the strengths is a plot that transitions between entertaining and interesting.
