Interview with Carla Montero to talk about her latest novel “El viñedo de la luna.”

The novel takes place during the Second World War, under German controlled Burgundy. Up to now, Carla Montero has published seven novels; four of them take place during that war.

It's just that I’ve taken a liking to it. It's not normal for women to write about that conflict, but when we do, we approach it from a different point of view, she says as soon as we begin our conversation.

'Women tend to write less about the war aspect and more about the characters; in the end, World War II is the context. When a man writes, he tends to focus more on the moments of war, on the battles; I stay with the characters. I don't like generalizations, that's why, I insist, my novels are not about war, they are novels about characters in a war environment', says the author from Madrid, who always chooses special and different events for her novels.
