The Ministry of Culture of Spain presents the official poster for the II Comic and Comic Book Day

The Ministry of Culture of Spain, through the General Directorate of Books, Comics and Reading, has presented the official poster for the II Comics and Comic Book Day, which will be held on March 17th.

The poster has been designed by the illustrator and cartoonist Borja González, winner of the National Comic Award in 2023 for “Grito nocturno” (Reservoir Books, 2022).

The poster has been produced in all the official languages of the State and can be downloaded free of charge for use in libraries, classrooms, bookstores or individually, through the Ministry of Culture’s website.

According to Borja González himself, his first idea was "that the poster be a comic in itself, as the appropriate way to celebrate Comic Book Day." According to the author, the design also aims to justify the need for easy and comprehensive reading.

Likewise, the General Directorate of Books, Comics and Reading is working on a commemorative agenda of activities around comics, which will run from March 11 to 17, throughout the country and that begins with the presentation of this poster.

On July 11, 2022, the Government of Spain declared March 17, as Comics and Comic Book Day as a way of recognizing the value of comics, the weight of their history and their importance in the current context, their diversity, creativity and quality.
