El Periódico interviews the Barcelona author Andreu Martín

About to turn 75, the Barcelona author returns to bookstores with 'Lo que les pasa a los demás,' another example that the detective genre 'today has as much dignity as any other and occupies a proper place in bookstores'.

The event takes place in a century-old bar, La Principal, in the heart of the Sant Antoni neighborhood, near where Andreu Martín was born (Barcelona, 1949). "This was dad's bar," he says as soon as he crosses the threshold. "Here is where he played cards every afternoon."

The tables with a veined white marble top and black wrought iron base, the classic wooden chairs and the antique decoration could very well be those of one of the establishments that appear in his detective novels.  It is not difficult to imagine Marc Olván – the public defender who stars in this new book, here, leaning on the bar while having a beer with a pincho de tortilla or a coffee and a cognac.
