The Spanish historians Maria Lara and Laura Lara, present their new book: “Los caballos amarillos: Enfermedades que nadie vio venir.” (The Yellow Horses: Diseases no one saw coming)

In this book, published by Ciudadela during the last weeks of 2020, Laura Lara and María Lara analyze the great pandemics humanity has endured.

Through the testimonies left by the “patients” and the sources of archeology, the press, music, and cinema, they offer the reader a work of clinical history.

As the historians Laura and María Lara, Professors at UDIMA, point out, “the history of the human being on Earth is full of evidence. Since Homo Sapiens was aware of his own existence, he had to face the hard ordeal of burying his loved ones.”

Regarding the origin of the title, the writers state that it derives from the fact that, in the Apocalypse, the yellow horse carries the rider of death, although they clarify that “despite the fact that one of the fevers is also yellow, in our technological society it is convenient to clarify the “fakes news,” and some of them are related to this color.” (As in yellow journalism).
