Blanca Riestra and Alejandro Narden Were Awarded The Premios de Novela Ateneo de Sevilla and Ateneo Joven de Sevilla 2020 Prize

The jury of the 2020 Premio de Novela Ateneo de Sevilla and Ateneo Joven (Young Adult) de Sevilla Awards, reached a verdict on July 14 and announced that the winning works were Últimas noches del Edificio San Francisco (Last Nights of the San Francisco Building) and Horizonte aquí (Horizon Here).

On this edition of the awards, sponsored by Fundación Unicaja and Ámbito Cultural, 222 works were entered in the Premio de Novela Ateneo de Sevilla and 26 were entered in the Premio de Novela Ateneo Joven (Young Adults), highlighting once again the international origin of the works presented. This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was not possible to hold the traditional literary dinner at the Real Alcázar in Seville, which was scheduled for the month of June.

Among the novels seleccted, there are different literary genres: mystery, fantasy, recent history, Spanish Civil War, historical, fiction and detective books.

The prize award is 28,000 Euros for the Premio de Novela Ateneo de Sevilla and 8,000 Euros for the Premio de Novela Ateneo Joven de Sevilla (Young Adult category).  This year is the XXV Anniversary of the Awards and consequently, the prize amount has been increased.  The winning novels will be published by Algaida Editores next fall.
