With "Esperando a Randy", (Waiting for Randy) Madrid native Santiago Casanova Gomez won the Extraordinary Detective Novel Prize.
The contest was organized by the School of Literature of the Castilla-La Mancha University, (UCLM) and Verbum Publishers, in order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of their native writer, Francisco Garcia Pavon.
182 novels were submitted from the Iberoamerican community. Finalists were: "El susurro en el oido" (A whisper in the Ear) by Jose Pulido; and "Caceria en circulo" (Circle Hunting) by Abelardo Leal. The jury panel members were: Amir Valle, Jose Climet, Enrique Gallud Jardiel, Antonio Galan, and Luis Rafael, the last two representing the School of Literature and Verbum Publishing, respectively.
