La Central bookstore grand opening in Madrid congregates writers, editors, readers

The new branch, La Central de Callao, has four floors and more of 70,000 titles, reports El País.

Italian writer Alessandro Baricco and Peruvian Nobel-Prize Winer Mario Vargas Llosa were among the book lovers present at the bookstore grand opening early this week in Madrid.

“A flood of readers, publishers and writers struggled to come in (...) to check if the news were true: some Catalan booksellers were trying to open a business in the capital for which they have taken a whole building in where they intend to sell the object to which many have heralded its death within more or less immediately,” writes Jesús Ruíz Mantilla, of El País.
