The Madrid Book Fair closes with record figures

The balance sheet of this edition shows billings of 10 million euros in sales, representing an increase of 14% over last year’s numbers.

The influx of visitors from outside Madrid make this event a national benchmark for books. The Madrid Book Fair closes this Sunday with record figures that represent a 14% increase compared to last year’s sales. A total of 2.3 million people has attended this cultural event, which began on May 31st. The total number of copies sold reached the 550,000 mark, which translates into earnings of about 10 million euros. These earnings were reported to the media this morning by Manuel Gil, director of the Madrid Book Fair, and Pablo Bonet, secretary of the Guild of Bookshops of Madrid, which organized of the event.

The sales success is exemplified in the number of bags that are distributed free among booth exhibitors, courtesy of the fair organizers. The 280,000 units allocated for this edition almost sold out during the last Saturday of the fair.
