Books awarded at the Cuatrogatos Foundation Prize 2019

The Cuatrogatos Foundation, a non-profit organization created in Miami by writers Sergio Andricaín and Antonio Orlando Rodríguez to support culture and education, selects the 20 best titles published each year...

in the Spanish language in Latin America and the United States. Its objective is to increase the readership of high-quality books created by Latin-American writers and illustrators. These are 20 books that are highly recommended for their literary and artistic values, and which, in the foundation’s opinion, deserve to be most widely distributed. By granting them this recognition, the aim is to see the books in the greatest possible number of homes, schools, libraries and other spaces where young readers are encouraged to engage with works of the highest quality.

The awards were chosen by a team of multidisciplinary training professionals in the fields of philology, education, journalism, sociology, librarianship, and theater, who share an interest in the creation and study of children's and young people's literature. In this edition, the jury reviewed about 1,500 books published by 175 publishers from 19 countries.
