Illegal immigrants could benefit from US government's new immigration program

The Homeland Security announced what documents illegal immigrants would need to prove their eligibility for the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, reports The Washington Post.

According to The Washington Post, the announcement came “a day before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services was set to begin letting people apply for the program.”

The Obama administration's plan is to stop deporting illegal immigrants, that were brought to the U.S. as children. “To be eligible, immigrants must prove they arrived in the United States before they turned 16, are 30 or younger, have been living here at least five years and are in school or graduated or served in the military,” says the article published by The Washington Post.
