The poet Màrius Sampere dies at 89

Born in 1928 in Barcelona, he published some thirty books of poems, for which he was awarded the fore-most prizes of Catalan literature.

Criticism, the City of Barcelona and the National Culture. The Barcelonian poet Màrius Sampere, Ciutat Prize of Barcelona and National Culture and awarded in 1999 with the Creu de Sant Jordi, has died at 89 years after a long illness, as reported by the Generalitat.

Born in 1928 in Barcelona, ??Sampere published some thirty books of poems, among them are "L'home i el límite", "Subllum" or "Les imminències", for which he was awarded the fore-most prizes of Catalan literature: Criticism, the City of Barcelona and the National Culture. Sampere's poetic work alludes to the emotions of human beings, to love, pain and death, sometimes irreverently, revealing their metaphysical preoccupations and a conflictive relationship with the creator God, arriving at a nihilistic point of view.
